Hampshire's Michael Carberry moved to within 16 runs of his first century of the season before rain delayed his side's match with Leicestershire.
Carberry, who was included in the 12-man England Lions squad on Friday, progressed from 73 to 84 as only 10 overs could be bowled.
Hampshire moved from 181-4 to 217-4, still trailing by 17 runs, as the match heads towards a draw.
Carberry has so far put on 63 for the fifth wicket with Sean Ervine (41no).
Play did not start until mid-afternoon, but the players did not last long on the field before poor weather brought them back to the pavilion.
Carberry, who had been struggling with cramp and a minor groin injury on Friday, batted without a runner.
Rain caused the final day in each of the eight County Championship matches to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. As a result, all eight games ended in draws.
