Captain Paul Collingwood is setting his sights on a new Durham record of five County Championship wins in a row.

The club equalled their record of four successive wins with victory over Worcestershire at New Road on Thursday.

"It's the old cliche of taking every game as it comes, but we have got an opportunity now to break the Durham record of consecutive wins," Collingwood told BBC Newcastle.

"I think it would be great for the club and great for the confidence."

Collingwood hit an unbeaten 53 in a crucial partnership of 119 with Dale Benkenstein (62no) to guide Durham to a comfortable six-wicket victory.

"Having that kind of confidence and people getting to know their own roles in the team, we can take that into next year," Collingwood added.

"I heard a rumour earlier than we may even have an opportunity to finish second in the division if we win the last two games which would be incredible."

Durham face Lancashire and Sussex in their remaining two County Championship Division One fixtures of the summer.
