Nottinghamshire bowler Andre Adams may be out for season

Nottinghamshire's leading wicket-taker Andre Adams looks likely to miss the remainder of the season with a recurrent calf injury.

The New Zealander limped off during the first day of the county's Championship match with Warwickshire on Tuesday.

Director of cricket Mick Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's not 100% fit and we knew that when we went into the game but he was very keen to play.

"This was a game we needed to win so we were prepared to get him on the field."

Adams is the county's leading wicket taker this season and third in the country. Going into the game against Warwickshire he had taken 54 Division One championship wickets at an average of 19.16.

Only Middlesex's Tim Murtagh (57 at 23.26) and Durham's Graham Onions (59 at 14.10) had taken more.

Adams has definitely been ruled of the remainder of the current match against Championship leaders Warwickshire and Newell said it is highly unlikely he will feature in either of the two remaining games.

Nottinghamshire are currently third in Division One, behind Sussex and leaders Warwickshire.

Following the current match at Edgbaston, Notts' two remaining fixtures see them play Worcestershire at New Road before the return against Warwickshire at Trent Bridge.
