Guernsey cricketers want fourth win in a row

Guernsey's cricketers intend to hold on to the inter-insular trophy for the fourth year running when they face Jersey at Grainville on Saturday.

Captain Stuart Le Prevost said: "We'll go in confident and cautious, obviously we know most of the Jersey guys and respect our opposition.

"In a one-off game like this there's always the chance that an upset can be caused, we hope that doesn't happen."

The 50-over match has been played annually since 1957.

Coach Andy Cornford told BBC Guernsey: "This year has been very weird, it almost feels like our season was over at the end of February.

"We've had a few high profile games against Denmark this year which has been a really good contest, but I think the squad has almost been craving something big to look forward to because the next ICC stuff doesn't come round until next year and the World Cricket League in 2014.

"It seems a long gap between any exciting cricket and the players have got to that stage where they look forward to the big games and this is a really big game."
