Kent 4pts, Essex 2pts |
Day three of Essex's Division Two match with Kent at Chelmsford was abandoned without a ball bowled because of rain.
The two sides hoped play would resume after lunch but more wet weather put an end to that being possible.
The visitors hold a slight advantage, with a two-run first-innings lead, with five wickets in hand.
Meanwhile, the hosts have awarded batsman Tom Westley his county cap, seven years after he made his debut against Sri Lanka.
Westley, 24, the ninth current Essex player to be capped, has played 71 first-class matches, having hit seven centuries.
