Close, day two: Essex 9-1 v Worcestershire |
Worcestershire's Chris Russell took the wicket of Essex opener Jaik Mickleburgh before rain hit New Road on day two.
With the match completely washed out on day one, play eventually got underway at 13:40 BST, with the hosts having won the toss and elected to field.
Jaik (4) lasted just six overs before Russell had him caught by Moeen Ail.
But in the very next over umpires Graham Lloyd and Jeremy Lloyds took the players off because of bad light before rain struck and play was abandoned.
