Ireland beaten by Pakistan in Women's World Twenty20 qualifier

Ireland will have to win the third-place play-off to progress to the Women's World Twenty20 after being well beaten by Pakistan in the semi-final at the qualifiers in Dublin.

The Irish were bowled out for 65 in the second last ball of their innings and Pakistan reached 66-1 after 14.1 overs.

Pakistan's win clinches their place in Bangladesh next year.

Sri Lanka beat the Netherlands in Monday's other semi-final so Ireland play the Netherlands on Wednesday.

The Dutch will face the hosts in the third and fourth place match, with the winners also qualifying for the Bangladesh tournament.

Ireland beat Japan and Canada in the opening two games before slipping to successive heavy defeats against the Sri Lankans and Pakistan.

In Monday's game, Clare Shillington was unable to maintain her brilliant form of earlier in the tournament.

The Ulster woman hit an unbeaten 114 in the opening win over Japan before contributing 81 against Canada.

On Monday, the opener was run out for five by Nahida Khan while Isobel Joyce, fresh from joining Shillington as the only Irish women to make 100 appearances for the country, was dismissed for a duck.

Kim Garth was the only Irish batswoman to reach double figures as she was unbeaten on 38 at the close.

Sadia Yousuf was the top Pakistan bowler as she produced figures of 4-9 from her four overs.

Pakistan reached the paltry target losing only Nahida Khan in the seventh over.

Javeria Khan finished on 34 with Nain Abidi unbeaten on 16.
