Australia's batsmen struggled once again as they drew their two-day tour match against England Lions.

Shane Watson, who made 45, was the only member of the top six to pass 35 as the tourists struggled to 227-6 in reply to the Lions' 269-7 declared.

All-rounder Ben Stokes claimed 2-27, while left-arm spinner Simon Kerrigan - tipped to make the England squad for the final Ashes Test - claimed 1-66.

The fifth Test at The Oval starts on Wednesday.

The Lions declared on their overnight total after rain delayed the start by 45 minutes, on a day that was also ended prematurely by bad light.

Lancashire's Kerrigan had David Warner stumped for 35 to break an opening partnership of 52 with Ed Cowan, who fell shortly after for 17.

The fluent Watson hit eight fours and a six before hooking James Harris to fine leg, and Stokes removed Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja, who averages just 19 in three Ashes Tests, as part of a collapse that saw three wickets fall for 16 runs.

From 160-6, Australia recovered thanks to an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 67 built around wicketkeeper Matthew Wade's 38.

England name their squad for the final Test at 09:00 BST on Sunday. They lead the series 3-0, having won the Ashes courtesy of victory in the fourth Test at Chester-le-Street.
