Spinner Dean Cosker reveals Glamorgan contract impasse

Glamorgan bowler Dean Cosker says it is "gut-wrenching" to be uncertain of his future at the club.

He has joined batsman and bowler Simon Jones in revealing an impasse over contract negotiations.

"I really want to commit myself to Glamorgan cricket," said Cosker, 35, who made his debut in 1996.

He was speaking ahead of the announcement that Hugh Morris was to be appointed Glamorgan's new chief executive and director of cricket.

Spin-bowler Cosker hopes his future will be settled within the next eight to 10 days.

At the same time, Glamorgan are searching for a new coaching boss following Matthew Mott announcing he will also leave at the end of the 2013 season.

He added: "It's a little bit gut-wrenching to find myself at the end of August, nearly, and nothing being on the table from Glamorgan or myself.

"I really want to commit myself to Glamorgan cricket.

"I'm a Welsh lad, I want to be playing cricket for Glamorgan for the rest of my foreseeable future.

"Hopefully that's another four-five years minimum.

"But at the moment the club's position is not really budging on what they've sort of offered at the moment.

"It's not where I want to be for security and other things on and off the field.

"I love playing for this club. I love taking wickets for Glamorgan… and I want to nurture young, Welsh spinners."

Cosker has represented England at Under-19 level and also toured with England A in 1997-98 and 1998-99.
