Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell says the crushing win over Somerset in the YB40 semi-final at Trent Bridge was a fitting way to show their one-day pedigree.

Notts restricted the visitors to 119 all out, with Jake Ball taking 4-25.

And the hosts raced to an eight-wicket win with the minimum of fuss.

Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I felt from early this season that we were a good one-day side and we have proved that now."

Notts will meet Glamorgan in the showpiece final at Lord's on Saturday, 21 September.

Newell said reaching the final four of the competition was the "bare minimum" and he is delighted to have helped the club reach their first Lord's final since 1989.

"To achieve a good win against a good side sets up for a big final," Newell added. "I am very pleased for everybody and we look forward to the day out out.

"Anybody who goes to Hampshire and wins - it's a massive result. We have huge respect for Glamorgan. They have a lot of experienced players and we look forward to playing them at Lord's. It will be a great day."
