Leicestershire have confirmed that West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan will return as the club's overseas player next season and have also signed bowler Charlie Shreck on a one-year contract.

The return of Sarwan, 33, was expected as he signed a two-year deal in 2012.

Former Notts seamer Shreck, 36, has taken 432 first-class wickets at an average just above 30, but was released by Kent at the end of last season.

"I'm looking forward to a new challenge at Leicestershire," he said.

"The opportunity to play a major role in the bowling attack and lend my experience to an exciting young squad is something that appeals to me and I can't wait to play a part in helping the club move forward."

Shreck was Kent's leading Championship wicket-taker in both his seasons with the club, taking 55 wickets in 2013 and 33 last summer.

Director of cricket Phil Whitticase said: "It is great to have Charlie on board. He has been a consistent performer over the years and has lots to offer us. He is just the bowler we have been looking for in terms of quality and experience.

"We are also delighted to have Ronnie back. They are the two experienced players we have been looking for."
