Jason Gillespie: Yorkshire coach dismisses England job link

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie has dismissed reports he is among the candidates to take over as England technical director.

The 38-year-old former Australia pace bowler said he felt he had unfinished business with Yorkshire.

"It's nice to be thought of in that way, but it's certainly not something I'm entertaining," he explained.

"I want to see this group of players maybe win a trophy or two during my time at the club."

During a successful playing career, Gillespie appeared in four successful Ashes series against England, only ending up on the losing side in 2005, and played for Yorkshire for two years,

He took over as Yorkshire's first-team boss two years ago after spells coaching Zimbabwean side Mid West Rhinos, Australia A and Indian Premier League outfit Kings XI Punjab.

In his his first season in charge the county reached the final of the T20 competition and won promotion from Division Two of the County Championship, and last summer they finished as runners-up to title winners Durham.

Gillespie confirmed his family is settled in Leeds, and told the club website: "I feel I have a lot to learn in my current role at Yorkshire, I'm learning along the way, I really enjoy working with our support staff and the players and I feel there's a bit of unfinished business, I suppose.

"I feel the club put faith in me when they appointed me at the start of 2012 and I want to repay that faith and see our players continue to develop and offer the England selectors options.

"I want to see this group of players maybe win a trophy or two during my time at the club, so I'm looking forward to challenges ahead and I'm completely focused on Yorkshire."
