In his his first season in charge the county reached the final of the T20 competition and won promotion from Division Two of the County Championship, and last summer they finished as runners-up to title winners Durham.
Gillespie confirmed his family is settled in Leeds, and told the club website:, external "I feel I have a lot to learn in my current role at Yorkshire, I'm learning along the way, I really enjoy working with our support staff and the players and I feel there's a bit of unfinished business, I suppose.
"I feel the club put faith in me when they appointed me at the start of 2012 and I want to repay that faith and see our players continue to develop and offer the England selectors options.
"I want to see this group of players maybe win a trophy or two during my time at the club, so I'm looking forward to challenges ahead and I'm completely focused on Yorkshire."
