World Twenty20: Bangladesh beat Ireland in warm-up game

Ireland lost by 44 runs to Bangladesh in their final warm-up game before next week's World Twenty20.

Shakib Al Hasan hit 58 off 32 balls as the hosts made 179-3, then took 2-13 to limit Ireland to 135-8 in Fatullah.

Captain William Porterfield made 44 and Stuart Thompson a rapid 35 in an otherwise flat Ireland response.

Phil Simmons's side, who beat Nepal in their previous warm-up game, start their World T20 campaign against Zimbabwe on Monday.

Bangladesh, who won the toss, had been in some trouble at 63-3 in the 11th over before Shakib and captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who smashed 59 not out off 30 balls, shared an unbroken 116-run stand.

Ireland slipped to 84-6 in reply, with Porterfield the only member of the top five to score more than 15.

Although Thompson hit three fours and two sixes in his 19-ball innings, Ireland never threatened to overhaul an imposing target.

They were beaten by Worcestershire and Hong Kong in their pre-tournament games in Dubai.

Also in Fatullah on Friday, the United Arab Emirates beat Nepal by six wickets, while in Chittagong, Zimbabwe beat Afghanistan by seven wickets while Hong Kong overcame the Netherlands by seven runs.
