Kent v Worcestershire: Weather frustrates visiting batsmen

Just 17 balls were possible at Tunbridge Wells as wet weather frustrated Kent and Worcestershire.

Play did not start until after tea, the visitors adding 19 to their overnight score to end day three on 67-0, skipper Daryl Mitchell moving on to 33, while Matt Pardoe is unbeaten on 30.

Mitchell's knock took him to 700 Championship runs for the season - in only Worcestershire's sixth game.

A draw is now on the cards, as the visitors target batting bonus points.

A total in excess of 350 (and four batting points) would earn the visitors 12 points from the game - and take them back above Hampshire to the top of the Division Two table.

The top two teams are scheduled to meet head on at New Road in Worcestershire's next home game on 8 June.

Meanwhile, promising Worcestershire fast bowler Charlie Morris has signed a new deal, tying him to New Road until 2017.

The former Devon paceman, 21, has been rewarded for his early season form.

Hereford-born Morris, who cut his teeth in Minor Counties cricket, before spending two summers playing for Oxford MCCU, has taken 14 wickets in Worcestershire's first six Championship matches of the season.
