Gloucestershire sign Adam Rouse as wicketkeeper cover

Gloucestershire have signed wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Rouse to cover their recent spate of injuries.

The 21-year-old, who recently played for the second XI, joins on a one-month trial and will share first-team duties with 17-year-old Patrick Grieshaber.

Rouse's deal comes after Cameron Herring was sidelined for five or six weeks with a broken finger, which requires an operation.

Captain Michael Klinger is also set to be out for weeks with a broken toe.

Director of cricket John Bracewell said: "X-rays have shown a break, but we are not yet certain how bad it is or how long Michael will be out of action."

Gloucestershire called upon Grieshaber, a schoolboy in their academy system, for their four-day game with Glamorgan after Herring was injured in the warm-up.

The Division Two side are also without Gareth Roderick who, like Herring, has suffered a broken finger.

Speaking about Rouse, who previously played for Hampshire, Bracewell added: "We have been impressed by Adam when he played against us and believe he can help us through the time that Cameron Herring and Gareth Roderick are out of action.

"I knew Patrick Grieshaber was a good keeper before the current game with Glamorgan and he has proved it, but it is not realistic to expect him to play in all the games over the next month."
