Nottinghamshire: James Franklin hopes to extend stay

New Zealand international James Franklin hopes to remain with Nottinghamshire for the duration of their limited-overs campaign.

The all-rounder will make his Outlaws debut at Worcestershire in Friday's T20 Blast match and is available for the remaining group games.

Franklin, 33, has also only signed to play in the early One-Day Cup fixtures.

On the likelihood of extending his stay, Franklin said: "Let's see how it pans out, but there is that option."

Franklin would be available for the knock-out stages of both limited-overs competitions as he is not required back in New Zealand until the start of their domestic season in late October.

The left-hander has not played since leading Wellington to a four-wicket Ford Trophy one-day final victory over Northern Districts in April, top scoring with 75 as they clinched their first domestic title in a decade.

Former Essex, Glamorgan and Gloucestershire man Franklin said the trip to New Road on Friday to face North Group leaders Worcestershire will be the ideal way to try and find form quickly.

"I'm not going to lie, I will be a bit green on Friday, but that is no excuse I want to get stuck in," Franklin told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"Twenty20 can be a good format to start cricket again because there is not too much time to think, you just have to react to the ball when it come to you and hopefully hit it out of the ground."
