Close, day three: Worcestershire 321 & 416-8 dec v Leicestershire 280 & 56-2

Worcestershire 6 pts, Leicestershire 5 pts

Tom Kohler-Cadmore fell one short of a maiden ton as Worcestershire remained in control over Leicestershire.

Alexei Kervezee made 75 after the hosts resumed on 48-2, but Leicestershire kept battling to reduce them to 187-5.

Kohler-Cadmore (99) and Joe Leach (74) put on 100 for the sixth wicket, while Saeed Ajmal made a career-best 53 not out as the home side declared on 416-8.

Greg Smith was unbeaten on 38 as Leicestershire closed on 56-2, still needing another 402 runs to win.

BBC Hereford & Worcester's Dave Bradley:

"Worcestershire set a massive target, but the whole day could have been different if Leicestershire had held on to a chance given by Kerveeze, with the hosts three wickets down early in the day.

"Kerveeze, Kohler-Cadmore, Leach and Ajmal then made them pay - the latter ending his batting career for the season at New Road with a marvellous half-century.

"Kohler-Cadmore was denied a maiden hundred but will surely get a lot more chances.

"Saeed Ajmal will now again be the key on a wearing pitch."
