Nottinghamshire 201-4 (19.2 overs) beat Yorkshire Vikings 200-5 (20 overs) by six wickets |
Yorkshire missed out on a T20 quarter-final place as Nottinghamshire secured a home tie with a six-wicket win.
Notts will host Hampshire while Yorkshire missed out to Birmingham Bears, who beat Leicestershire Foxes.
In his last game before returning to Australia, Aaron Finch (89) hit seven sixes in his 46-ball knock as he helped the home side to a commanding 200-5.
Alex Hales made 67 before James Taylor (35 not out) and James Franklin (19 not out) won the game with four balls left.
Notts needed 50 from 24 balls and Taylor showed his side's intent with two successive fours off Ryan Sidebottom.
Samit Patel (26), who had earlier hit two sixes, fell to Rich Pyrah, before Franklin launched him for two successive sixes off the first two balls he faced.
Taylor then smashed 18 off Sidebottom's final four balls to leave only six runs needed from the final over.
After Tim Bresnan (2-22) managed to bowl a dot ball, Franklin's towering six won the game for Notts.
Earlier, Finch thrilled the Headingley crowd with his highest T20 score of the season, before falling to a stunning diving catch by Chris Read.
Jonny Bairstow, who initially played a supportive role to Finch, made 60 off 34 balls to push Yorkshire to 200.
But he was out off the final ball of the innings, caught by Steven Mullaney in the deep off the impressive Jake Ball (3-38), who was playing in his first game since breaking a bone in his foot.
Yorkshire batsman Aaron Finch:
"I thought that we had enough runs on that wicket, but all credit to Notts for the way they pressed throughout their innings.
"They were never really a long way behind the rate. In a situation like that, it just takes one or two big overs to change it, and they got them.
"When you've got wickets in hand you can make up a lot of ground and they definitely did that.
"We didn't field particularly well. We probably leaked 20 runs and a couple of catches went down. It was a disappointing loss."
