Worcestershire: Tom Kohler-Cadmore signs new contract

Worcestershire batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore has signed a new deal with the county, tying him to New Road until the end of the 2016 season.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a promising first season in county cricket, making five half-centuries, having hit 420 runs in 10 County Championship matches.

"Tom's a real student of cricket," said Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes.

"He loves his practice and is excellent with his off-the-field preparation."

"Tom is training harder and harder and will become a very hungry run scorer in all forms of cricket.

"He has already played well in T20 cricket and has come back into the side in four-day cricket and has done that on the back of some good performances."

The Malvern College-educated batsman, who broke the school record last summer, has scored a further 227 runs in 11 T20 Blast games and 130 in seven List 'A' matches.

Kohler-Cadmore still had another year to run on his current deal, but he has followed the lead of Joe Leach, Chris Russell, Tom Fell and Ben Cox in committing his future to the county.

He has been part of a successful Worcestershire Championship side who could be one win away from earning promotion back to Division One.

If Worcestershire beat Derbyshire in their next game, which begins on Sunday, and the results in games involving Hampshire and Kent also go their way, they would return to the top flight for the first time since 2011.
