George Bailey: Australia's Twenty20 captain steps down

George Bailey has stepped down as Australia's Twenty20 captain.

The Tasmanian batsman, 32, has led Australia in all 28 of his T20 internationals since being appointed captain in January 2012, when he was uncapped in any international format.

He has also deputised as skipper for Michael Clarke in 17 of his 44 one-day international appearances.

Bailey now hopes to concentrate on one-day cricket ahead of the 2015 World Cup and attempt to regain his Test place.

The right-hander has played five Tests, all in the Ashes series against England in 2013-14.

Australia now need to find a new skipper for next month's T20 international in Dubai which kicks off their series against Pakistan.
