Dawid Malan: Middlesex batsman signs new contract

Malan has scored 16 centuries for Middlesex in all formats of the game

Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan has signed a new three-year deal, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2017 campaign.

The 27-year-old left-hander scored 1,137 Championship runs for the side this year at an average of 45.48.

"Dawid remains one of the more gifted cricketers in county cricket," managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said.

"He should be in the prime of his career during this contract and has many productive years to come."

Fraser added: "It has been good to see him score runs in all forms of the game this season and I believe he still has the chance to push for higher honours.

"As one of Middlesex's senior players we will be looking for him to provide the club with leadership as we move forward and look to improve on what has been a disappointing season for the club."

Malan made his Middlesex debut in 2006 and has gone on to score over 10,000 runs for the club in all forms of the game.

He reached 1,000 first-class runs for the second time in his career in 2014, as well as scoring 393 runs in the T20 Blast and 218 runs in the One-Day Cup this year.

Malan has also taken 70 wickets and 188 catches during his time at Lord's.

"I am delighted to have extended my stay at the club that gave me my opportunity as an 18-year-old in 2006," Malan said. "I am confident that the club will be challenging for silverware over the next few years and aim to play a big part in those successes."
