Lancashire have signed pace bowler George Edwards, recently released by Surrey,, external on a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old has taken eight wickets in four first-class matches, including 4-44 on his Championship debut against Worcestershire in 2012.

Edwards spent time at an England training camp in South Africa in 2013.

"George is a young, fast bowler with great potential and will be a great addition to our seam bowling unit," said cricket director Ashley Giles.

"After losing the services of Kyle Hogg, and with Glen Chapple perhaps playing a limited role, this is an area that we need to strengthen."

Edwards is the second young seam bowler to join Lancashire since the end of the season, with Nathan Buck moving from Leicestershire.
