England women beaten by New Zealand in Whangarei

Suzie Bates averages 25, with a strike-rate of 105, in T20 internationals

New Zealand women beat England by six wickets in the second Twenty20 in Whangarei to level the series at 1-1.

Rachel Priest made 41, captain Suzie Bates 33 and Sophie Devine an unbeaten 29 as the hosts overhauled a target of 123 with four balls to spare.

England's 122-5 was built around Lauren Winfield's 48, while Heather Knight hit 30 off 15 balls late on.

The series decider will be held in Lincoln on 24 February (22:00 GMT on 23 February).

Ahead of the decider, England batsman Lydia Greenway said: "We want to show the fight we have. It's a big game for us and we want to come away with a series win. We'll be doing everything we can to make it happen."

Following that game, the sides will resume the one-day series which preceded the T20s, with New Zealand leading 2-1 and two games remaining.

Priest and Bates's opening stand of 64 was four more than the New Zealand side managed in the opening T20, which England won by eight wickets.

Although Kate Cross broke the partnership - the first of three wickets to fall for 13 runs - Devine saw New Zealand home with two fours and a six in her 20-ball innings.
