Scotland will go Afghanistan with confidence high after a convincing 257-run win over United Arab Emirates, according to coach Grant Bradbury.

The friendly in Southampton was a warm-up for Tuesday's their ICC Intercontinental Cup game in Stirling.

"What an excellent three days together as a squad," he told the Cricket Scotland website.

"UAE are always a tough associate opponent and we know Afghanistan will be equally tough next week."

Scotland went into the final day with a 520-run lead.

And they managed to take all 10 wickets, with Safyaan Sharif and Richie Berrington both claiming three wickets, while Ali Evans took two.

"The Ageas Bowl is a great environment for cricket and our guys made the most of the quality facilities," added Bradbury.

"With some significant individual performances from our team in the last three days, we all now look forward to our first ICup challenge at Stirling with confidence throughout our squad."

UEA had crumbled to 73 in their first innings after the Salties declared on 431 for eight and the Scots' second innings of 196 for four set up a mammoth target.

Swapnil Patil led the second-innings resistance with a century and, along with 70 from Asif Iqbal, it gave the batting side hope of a draw in the three-day fixture.

However, Sharif took his personal wicket tally in the match to eight when he removed Mohammed Taqir in the 94th over of the second innings to help his side over the line.
