Glamorgan 'in control' against Northants, says Michael Hogan

Glamorgan fast bowler Michael Hogan says they are "in control" against Northants despite losing two sessions to rain on day two in Cardiff.

Northants stumbled to 79-5 in reply to Glamorgan's 371, with two wickets each for Hogan and centurion Craig Meschede.

"Normally our first session of bowling in the first innings has been pretty poor this year," said Hogan.

"But here we were on the ball, and it's pleasing stuff we've been working on is paying off now."

At one point Northants lost five wickets for just five runs before Josh Cobb and Adam Rossington put together an unbeaten stand of 46.

"It was a positive first session from us, we spoke about what we needed to do and went out and executed it quite well," Hogan told BBC Wales Sport.

"We feel like we're in control of the game at the moment, but we found when we batted that when the ball lost its shine it became a really nice batting wicket.

"They've got two guys in that can play, and some dangerous hitters to come as well."

The match has seen just 99.3 overs bowled over the first two days because of the weather, but Hogan believes Glamorgan are still in a position to press for victory with the forecast improving.

"The weather's disappointing but it's got us out of a few problems in the past as well," he said.

"We're in a good spot and there's still plenty of time left. The way we batted moved the game forward, and we've left ourselves plenty of time to take the next 15 wickets we need."

Hogan currently has 17 Championship wickets despite missing the first two games through injury, while Meschede and Graham Wagg are level with 18 victims each.
