T20 Blast: Glamorgan coach Toby Radford wary of Gloucestershire

Glamorgan head coach Toby Radford is wary of Gloucestershire's "explosive" batting ahead of their T20 Blast game in Bristol on Friday.

The Welsh county have won two and lost two of their opening four T20 fixtures.

Gloucestershire have won four and lost two, losing away to Essex on Thursday.

"They're not like one of the London clubs, like Surrey or Middlesex, in terms of stature but they're a side you have to take very seriously," Radford told BBC Wales Sport.

Glamorgan have named an unchanged 13-man squad from last week's win over Middlesex.

Radford is concerned about his bowlers doing a better containing job than in last season's visit to Bristol.

"Gloucestershire are a very good T20 side," added Radford.

"Last year we went there and they scored over 200 batting first before a thunderstorm, so we never got the chance to bat.

"But we did see how explosive they can be, the likes of Michael Klinger, Ian Cockbain can be very dangerous and someone like Jack Taylor coming in down the order hits a long ball, so we take them very seriously."

Glamorgan face Somerset at the Swalec Stadium on Saturday, but Matthew Maynard's visitors will be without West Indies batsman Chris Gayle after he brought forward his return to the Caribbean.

Despite the non-appearance of Gayle in Cardiff, South Africa batsman Colin Ingram is hoping to deliver a few batting fireworks of his own to repeat his match-winning knock of 91 in the opening win away to Surrey.

"It's an exciting time for us, coming off a win against Middlesex, I feel like I'm sitting in a dressing room full of confidence so I'm really looking forward to the big weekend with two local derbies," he said.

"The last couple of innings haven't gone as well as I would have liked so a great opportunity this weekend to put my hand up again."

Glamorgan reached the quarter-finals of the T20 Blast last season only to go down to Lancashire by one run at Old Trafford.

With just four games played out of 14 in the group, Radford is not prepared to start considering Glamorgan's overall chances of reaching the knockout stages.

"We prepare for every game the same at the moment," he said, "doing our analysis of the opposition, preparing our plans and trying to put them into practice.

"We keep doing that until much later into the competition. If we're there or thereabouts, we'll start thinking about it then."
