Fidel Edwards and teenager Mason Crane took five wickets each for Hampshire as Warwickshire were skittled for 125.

Hampshire lost their final two wickets quickly to be bowled out for 285.

Crane (5-35) and West Indian Edwards (5-32) then ripped through the visitors' batting line-up after lunch at the Ageas Bowl as Warwickshire collapsed from 78-1.

Michael Carberry and James Vince extended the lead to 242 at stumps as they reached 82-1.

After 18-year-old leg-spinner Crane removed opener Varun Chopra (37) and Jonathan Trott in the space of five balls, Warwickshire quickly capitulated and lost their last nine wickets for 47 runs.

Hampshire lost Jimmy Adams early on but Vince and Carberry both moved to 34 at the close.
