Essex dominated with bat and ball on day two as they took control against Derbyshire at the County Ground.

The visitors moved from their overnight 360-6 to 464-7 before declaring with Mark Pettini unbeaten on 117.

Debutant Jack Winslade then starred with the ball for Essex, taking 4-20, while Tom Moore claimed 3-12 as Derbyshire were skittled for 94.

The hosts made a better fight of their second innings after being asked to follow on, reaching 102-3 at stumps.

Twenty-year-old Winslade, who was released by Surrey at the end of last season, tore through the tail in Derbyshire's first innings, claiming the last four wickets with the injured Tony Palladino unable to bat.

Chesney Hughes saw Derbyshire past their earlier total, but was bowled by Ravi Bopara (2-11) for 38 just before the close and the hosts trail by 268 runs.
