Gloucestershire have a 234-run lead going into the final day against Glamorgan in Bristol.
Australian opener Cameron Bancroft scored a season-best 70 for the visitors, in-form Hamish Marshall hit a breezy 58 and Gareth Roderick made 67.
Michael Hogan claimed four wickets for a Glamorgan attack missing Graham Wagg, who suffered an arm injury batting.
Bad light cut seven overs off the day and the weather forecast for the final day looks unfavourable.
Glamorgan fast bowler Michael Hogan told BBC Wales Sport:
"We're in a reasonable position. It can get quite difficult to score out there and it can be hard to take wickets.
"We cashed in with the new ball but we've still got a bit of work to do.
"It would have been nice to bowl them out, but we've been on the right end of some bad light and rain in the last week, so you have to take it.
"It was probably the best performance we've put in on the park this year, so positive signs for the future."
