Wayne Madsen and Shiv Thakor hit centuries as Derbyshire made their highest score of the season on day three against Kent at Canterbury.
Madsen (163) and Thakor (123) shared a partnership of 144, breaking a 90-year-old county record for the sixth wicket against Kent.
Thakor reached three figures with a six off James Tredwell, who took 3-153.
They eventually declared on 574-9, a lead of 195, and Kent reduced it by 32 without loss before rain ended play.
Having resumed on 291-3, the visitors lost two wickets before lunch, but Madsen brought up his century off 183 balls.
And he took his seasonal total to 761 runs, the highest by any batsman in either division, before falling lbw to Matt Hunn.
His stand with Thakor beat the previous sixth-wicket best against Kent of 136, set by Garnet Lee and Stan Worthington at Derby in 1926.
Derbyshire's total was their second-best against Kent, just nine runs short of their 583-4 declared in 2009.
