Jersey clinched their first victory in World League Division Four with a dramatic three-wicket triumph against Italy in Los Angeles.

The island side reached 236-7, the biggest run-chase of the tournament, with just three balls to spare.

Nat Watkins' 77 gave Jersey momentum and Jonty Jenner hit 65 before Corey Bisson (42 not out) guided them home.

"It got quite tense towards the end," said Jersey coach Neil MacRae told BBC Radio Jersey in Los Angeles.

"The way that Corey has been batting this tournament, actually I don't think we were that nervous.

"I think we just trust in our lower order, and Jake Dunford did a great job with him at the end as well."

Jersey won the toss and elected to bowl, and despite an early wicket Gian-Piero Meade took Italy past 100, going on to make a patient 61.

Former Sydney Thunder player Carl Sandri was bowled for 40 by Anthony Hawkins-Kay and after skipper Damian Crowley went for 58, Italy's final five wickets fell for just 23 runs as they were bowled out for 235 with one ball left in the innings.

Jersey's captain Peter Gough was out in the first over of their reply, but opener Watkins found the boundary 10 times and Jenner steered Jersey to within 45 runs of Italy's total before he went to Crowley for 65.

When Charles Perchard was out for a golden duck in the following over, what had seemed like a straightforward chase began to look uncertain with Jersey seven wickets down.

But Bisson's powerful hitting meant they were able to reach the total in the final over with his 42 coming off just 31 balls.

In Tuesday's other matches, hosts USA remained unbeaten after they beat Oman by eight wickets, with captain Steven Taylor scoring 124, while previously winless Bermuda beat Denmark by 38 runs.
