Claire Shillington hit crucial runs in both of Ireland's wins on Wednesday

Ireland's women clinched two Twenty20 wins over Scotland at the Celtic Cup in Dundee on Wednesday.

Claire Shillington's 81 helped Ireland earn a 76-run in the first game before the Irish edged a seven-run win under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern system.

Shillington's knock contributed to Ireland's 166-4 in the first match with Scotland only posting 90-4 in reply.

Scotland hit 90-5 in the second match and Ireland were on 29-2 when rain intervened which gave them victory.

Shillington hit a six and 12 fours as produced a second-wicket stand of 120 with Gaby Lewis in Wednesday's opener.

The Bryce sisters Sarah (31) and Kathryn (27) ensured Scotland batted out their overs but the Ireland total was never under serious threat.

Lewis completed a fine individual performance for Ireland by producing bowling figures of 4-46.

Kathryn Bryce top-scored for Scotland with 21 in the second match with Olivia Rae hitting 20 as Rachel Delaney took three wickets.

In reply, the Irish lost Lewis (1) and Shauna Kavanagh (7) cheaply but their tally 29-2 after five overs proved enough after a heavy downpour forced the game to be abandoned.

Shillington again was Ireland's top scorer as she finished on 19 not out.

Thursday was scheduled to be a rest day in the series but the teams have arranged two further T20 games at the same venue - starting at 11:00 BST and 15:00.
