Scotland's Intercontinental Cup match in Papua New Guinea ended in a draw after four days of big scoring.

The visitors reached a new record first innings total of 514 on the final day, bowler Mark Watt finishing 81 not out.

That left PNG 110 runs behind, with the hosts reaching 263-3 before the captains shook hands on a tie.

A fourth draw in six outings leaves Scotland fifth in the eight-team table ahead of their final outing against leaders Ireland.

Resuming play with a 78-run lead, Watt added 20 to his overnight score as tailender Chris Sole fell for 21.

Earlier, Richie Berrington made a career-best 129 to secure a first innings lead bonus, with good support from Michael Leask (58), while George Munsey (53) and Calum MacLeod (49) scored well before losing their wickets at the end of day two.

PNG lost opening batsman Vani Morea in the fifth over of their second innings but Tony Ura (75) and Lega Siaka (83) made sure there would be no collapse and Assad Vala scored 61 not out.

"Very proud of our boys to perform like they have done for the last four days on the other side of the world," said Scotland head coach Grant Bradburn.

"It's not easy to come to these sorts of conditions and we're very impressed with the facilities, but it's a tough wicket and very different to ones in Scotland."
