The Hundred 2023: Watch Manchester Originals' Jos Buttler's sixes against London Spirit

The Hundred men's competition: Manchester Originals v London Spirit, Old Trafford

Manchester Originals 138-5 (80 balls): Buttler 62 (36); Bopara 2-13

Match abandoned; one point each

The Hundred fixture between Manchester Originals and London Spirit in the men's competition was abandoned because of rain at Old Trafford.

The second men's fixture of the day between Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets was then abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The first match had been reduced to 90 balls a side after an earlier delay.

But it was ultimately abandoned just 80 balls into Originals' innings, who finished 138-5.

England white-ball captain Jos Buttler smashed 62 from 36 balls, while Ravi Bopara took 2-13 for Spirit, whose fielders struggled with wet conditions.

Buttler smashed five sixes and three fours in his knock and was supported by Phil Salt's 21 from just nine balls, which looked to be setting a solid platform for the Originals before Spirit's bowlers fought back, led by Bopara, who bowled Buttler with a canny slower ball.

England Test opener Zak Crawley was making his first appearance of the competition for Spirit.

The umpires kept the players out through persistent rain in the hope it would clear, but several Spirit fielders were visibly unhappy with the conditions.

From both games, the teams take one point each.

Both Originals and Spirit are still searching for their first win in the competition, having lost their opening encounters to Welsh Fire and Oval Invincibles respectively.

Phoenix have now had both their games washed out, while Rockets won their opener to Southern Brave and top the men's competition table with 3 points.

Earlier, both games in the women's competition were also abandoned because of the weather.

You can watch Hundred matches on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the competition, alongside both finals on Sunday, 27 August. More details here.
