Jersey's European Cricket Championship hopes are over after they were beaten by eight wickets by a Netherlands XI.

Arnav Jain took three wickets in four balls to leave Jersey on 59-4 after five of their 10 overs, as the spinner took the wickets of Jersey dangermen Asa Tribe and Jonty Jenner.

Jersey ended on 124-7 as Charles Perchard top-scored with 52 not out.

In reply the Dutch eased to their target in 6.5 overs as Teun Kloppenburg hit 68 off 21 balls.

The loss means a young Jersey side cannot make the top four and a place in the knockout stages.

Their last game in the seven-team final round of the 10-over event in Spain against Italy was abandoned due to rain.

Having beaten an Ireland XI for their first win on Wednesday Jersey hopes were high, but they lost Patrick Gouge for eight at the end of the second over.

Tribe and Jenner put on 38 for the second wicket before Tribe was trapped lbw by Jain for 32, to leave Jersey on 58-2 off 4.2 overs.

Jenner was caught two balls later for 17 while his replacement Julius Sumerauer went with the next ball as Jersey were left on 59-4.

Jersey skipper Perchard came to the crease in the sixth over and made the score respectable, smashing six sixes in his 32-ball knock.

Opener Kloppenburg hit eight sixes and four fours in his innings as he and Shirase Rasool struck up a 69-run third-wicket partnership, before Kloppenburg was caught by substitute fielder Sam Patidar off Tribe's bowling.

Rasool went on to get 31 not out off 12 balls, including four maximums, as the Netherlands reached 125-2 off 6.5 overs.
