Batter Luke Wells has signed a new contract to keep him at Lancashire until the end of the 2026 season.

The 32-year-old has scored 3,256 runs across all formats for the Red Rose since joining from Sussex for the 2021 campaign.

"I've loved it here ever since I stepped through the door. It felt like a brand new lease of life for my career," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'm excited about the challenges going forward and contributing more success."

Wells, who has also taken 58 wickets for the county with leg-spin, sees himself as stepping up in a leadership role now that he has signed a new deal.

"I definitely feel like I've got an important role as a senior leader within the group. I see my role moving forward as someone who can help the guys," he said.

"I've had three amazing seasons here so far and being able to step into a new environment with fresh eyes on me, I feel like I've been able to progress really well, especially in the white-ball game.

"I'm still trying to improve every day as a batter in all forms. It's been an amazing move and I hope the success can continue."
