Surrey spinner Amar Virdi has signed a contract extension with the south London club.

A product of the club's academy, Virdi made his first-team debut in 2017.

The 25-year-old has taken 130 wickets in 51 games for Surrey but only played in the One-Day Cup last season.

"I am pleased Amar has signed a new contract as I hope he can challenge for first-team selection through consistent performances," director of cricket Alec Stewart told the Surrey website, external.

Virdi's last first-class appearance came on loan at Somerset in July 2022 at Lancashire where he failed to take a wicket in the match.

Surrey have also handed Tommy Ealham his first professional contract.

The off-spinner made his debut in the One-Day Cup in 2023, playing against Hampshire and Essex.

The 19-year-old is the son of Kent, Nottinghamshire and England all-rounder Mark Ealham.

"Tommy has made good progress over the last few years and has shown enough potential to earn his first professional contract," Stewart added.
