Death bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has taken 62 wickets for Afghanistan in 47 white-ball appearances.

Hampshire Hawks have signed Afghanistan international paceman Naveen-ul-Haq for the T20 Blast.

The 24-year-old can play in the final six group games in July and would be available for the knockout stages in September, should the Hawks qualify.

Australia international Michael Neser was unveiled last week for Hampshire's opening eight group games.

Ul-Haq told the Hawks website, external: "I'm excited. Hopefully I can help the team to win another T20 trophy."

The medium-fast bowler is a T20 specialist, with 186 wickets at an average of 23.73 across 156 appearances.

More than 50 of those wickets came in three Blast stints with Leicestershire and he has also featured in the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League and SA20 among others.

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White said: "It's great to have a high-class performer like Naveen with us at the business end of the competition."
