Australia's Aaron Hardie has been pulled out of a spell with county champions Surrey from May to July.
The all-rounder, 25, was due to be available for three County Championship matches and the T20 Blast group stage.
But a club statement said he had been "withdrawn by Cricket Australia in order to manage his workload".
Hardie - who had a spell at The Oval in 2022 - will play for Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania, starting on Thursday.
"Whilst we are obviously very disappointed that Aaron will not be joining the team this summer, I respect the decision of Cricket Australia and wish Aaron the very best," said Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart.
