Hampshire's Joe Weatherley struck 14 fours and a six in his 116 not out

Hampshire and Sussex both chased stiff targets in the One-Day Cup, while Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire were involved in an incredible tie.

Meanwhile, Glamorgan's game against Derbyshire in Neath was abandoned without a ball bowled because of rain.

Set an amended 327 off 47 overs following a rain delay, Nottinghamshire Outlaws looked down and out at 145-7.

However, Notts number nine Rob Lord smashed 83 off 59 balls, leaving them needing four off the last over.

But the Outlaws last-wicket pair could not get Khurram Shahzad away and they scampered a single off the final ball to tie the game.

Joe Weatherley starred for Hampshire, striking 116 not out, as they strode to a target of 286 to beat winless Essex.

Kent's middle order helped them to 287-9 against Sussex, with six batters passing 30 and Joey Evison top scoring with 52.

Sussex looked out of the game at 200-7 but an eighth-wicket stand of 88 between Jack Carson and Archie Lenham took the hosts to a remarkable victory.

Hampshire leading the way

Hampshire have now notched up two convincing wins as the 2018 winners look to reach their fourth One-Day Cup final in the past seven tournaments.

Essex looked on course for a bigger total than 285 all out when they were 154-3 halfway through the innings, but the home bowlers pulled it back well and shared the wickets around.

Charlie Allison top scored for Essex with 80.

After Ali Orr (29), captain Nick Gubbins (40) and Tilak Varma (54) had got Hampshire's chase off to a good start, Weatherley guided his side home superbly with his third List A century.

The 28-year-old struck 14 fours and a six in his 105-ball innings as Hampshire eased to 288-5 in the 47th over.

Lord brings Outlaws back from the brink

An extraordinary game between Notts and Worcestershire in Nettleworth appeared to have the Pears strolling to victory.

Joe Pocklington, playing just his second 50-over match, started the recovery for the hosts with 54 off 41 balls, but it was Lord who really swung the game.

The 24-year-old struck nine fours and four sixes before becoming the ninth batter to fall with 19 still needed.

Brett Hutton and James Hayes took things to the final over, but Pakistan paceman Shahzad only conceded three runs.

Earlier, Worcestershire captain Jake Libby (112 not out) and Kashif Ali (101) had both struck centuries as the Rapids reached 312-7 when rain arrived and ended their innings in the 48th over.

Sussex lower order also stars

Like Worcestershire, Kent also seemed certain for victory when they reduced Sussex to 53-4 and 200-7.

A fifth-wicket stand of 90 between John Simpson (50) and Oli Carter (68) got the visitors back into it at Arundel.

Both fell in the space of a few overs and when Danny Lamb went cheaply, Sussex were seven down with 88 still needed.

But Carson and Lenham both scored at better than a run a ball to take Sussex to 288-7 with 10 deliveries left.
