Derbyshire all-rounder Alex Thomson is set to leave the club when his contract ends.

Thomson, 31, played 82 games in all formats after joining the East Midlands club from Warwickshire in 2021, picking up 135 wickets and scoring four half-centuries.

The off-spinner's best figures of 7-65 for Derbyshire came in the County Championship match with Glamorgan last year, on his way to 12 wickets in the match.

His most recent appearance came in their championship defeat by Leicester in July, making 55 in his final innings for the club.

"As I leave the club after four seasons, I'd like to express my thanks to the coaching staff, my team-mates and the loyal supporters for being a part of living out my childhood dream," he told the club website., external
