Leicestershire have signed Somerset all-rounder Josh Thomas on loan for the rest of the T20 Blast group stage.
The 20-year-old left-arm spinner and middle-order bat has been brought in as injury cover for Liam Trevaskis, who is expected to miss the next four games after hurting his bowling hand.
Leicestershire are fifth in the North Group of the T20 Blast and remain hopeful of progressing to the knockout stage of the competition.
Thomas, who is a former England Under-19 international, has so far played only One-Day Cup matches for Somerset, but could make his T20 Blast debut for the Foxes when they face Northamptonshire Steelbacks later on Thursday.
He has captained Somerset's second XI team in T20 cricket this year.
"We envisage him having a role to play within our 50-over squad this summer and therefore the timing of this loan agreement is ideal as it will see him gain important first XI exposure," Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry told the club website., external
