Nathan Sowter has signed a new white ball deal aimed at keeping him at Durham until the end of the 2027 season.

The 32-year-old leg spinner was a key player in the county's progress to the quarter-finals of last summer's competition, the first time they had reached that stage since 2018.

Sowter claimed 19 wickets, a year after he set a new Durham T20 record by taking 24 in the competition, at an average of 14.

Sowter has also starred for Oval Invincibles in the Men's Hundred, taking three wickets in seven balls as they beat Trent Rockets in the final on Sunday.

Director of cricket Marcus North said: "Since joining Durham, we have enjoyed seeing so many match winning contributions from Sowts.

"He is such a key performer for us and in my opinion has become the best domestic leg spinner in the T20 Blast. To secure his future at Durham is extremely exciting."
