Hill steps down as Leicestershire captain

Lewis Hill led Leicestershire to the One-Day Cup title last season

Lewis Hill will stand down at Leicestershire captain at the end of the season but will remain at the club as a player.

The Leicester-born wicketkeeper was appointed as the county's captain ahead of the 2023 season, replacing Callum Parkinson.

Hill had skippered the white-ball team since 2021, leading them to the One-Day Cup title two years later when they beat Hampshire by two runs.

"I am already looking forward to supporting our next captain and, most importantly, continuing to contribute to success for Leicestershire in the seasons ahead," Hill told the Leicestershire website.

Hill has scored more than 7,000 runs in all formats of the game and completed 183 dismissals behind the stumps.

Leicestershire complete their County Championship Division Two season with a home game against Derbyshire, starting on Thursday.

They are fifth in the table, having won just once in 13 games, nine of them ending in draws.
