Jersey closing in on new director of cricket

Jersey are closing in on appointing a new director of cricket for the island's national sides.
Paul Hutchison stepped down from the role, which also serves as head coach for the men's team, last month after two seasons.
Jersey narrowly missed out on qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup this summer but are top of their ICC Challenge League pool as they aim for the next Cricket World Cup.
"We're quietly active in the market at the minute," Jersey Cricket Board chief executive Sarah Gomersall told BBC Radio Jersey.
"It's exactly the right time when talent comes available, it's the end of the season, people's contracts are ending, coaches are ready for the next challenge so to speak.
"I think Jersey cricket is a genuinely exciting and quite a unique proposition and an aspirational role for for anybody to want to come into."

The role combines leading the elite end of the game on the island with developing the next generation of players.
Gomersall hopes it will prove to be an attractive proposition - especially when brought together with the stability that the Jersey Cricket Board brings.
"Something you don't see across the world, and particularly in Europe, is good governance, a strong board, a stable board, and that's something that we can offer to a director of cricket," she told BBC Radio Jersey.
"So if you're a head coach looking at Jersey, it's not only an exciting proposition on the field, but off the field it gives some comfort and you know that you've got the firepower, if you like, to match the ambition on the field.
"I think we need a proven coach, we need somebody who's ambitious, got vision and they need to be highly experienced across men's cricket, women's cricket, development, so looking at our pathway.
"It's vitally important that they can see talent and work with the next generation coming through the clubs, through the under-19s and through the junior structure, and that's something which you don't get in all cricket at our level.
"If you think about Italy, for example, you've got quite a lot of players who've come from Australia in their national side.
"They're our ready comparator because we play against them quite a lot, but we don't have that luxury.
"So it's vital really that the new coach is on island, is working with the clubs, is working with our juniors, and can really identify and spot young talent and nurture it and and continue to grow cricket in Jersey."
