Derbyshire batter Amrit Basra has signed a new two-year contract.

The 23-year-old hit his first half-century for the club earlier this month, smashing 72 off just 55 balls as the Falcons thrashed local rivals Nottinghamshire Outlaws in the One-Day Cup.

"My time with Derbyshire so far has been really enjoyable and I'm thrilled to be staying with the club for the next two seasons," Basra told the club website., external

After impressing in the club's second XI, Basra joined the club in July, external on a contract for the One-Day Cup and has featured three times in the competition.

Director of cricket Mickey Arthur added: "Amrit has impressed during his appearances for us and we feel he's earned the opportunity to show what he can do longer-term."
