Guernsey registered an impressive nine-wicket win over Papua New Guinea in the first of two 50 over matches at the KGV.

Teenage bowler Charlie Forshaw starred for the islanders as he took seven wickets for just 16 runs as Guernsey bowled out the Papuans for just 90 in 23.3 overs.

The Sarnians cruised to their target in reply as they made 91-1 with more than 26 overs to spare as Josh Butler scored 42 not out.

The two sides will face each other again on Sunday in the final match of a three-game series as Papua New Guinea prepare for the ICC Challenge League tournament in Jersey next week.

The Papuans won the opening match between the two sides when they beat Guernsey by six wickets in a tight Twenty20 encounter.
