Pennington and Slater sign new Nottinghamshire deals

Nottinghamshire fast bowler Dillon Pennington and batter Ben Slater have signed new deals to remain at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2027 season.
Pennington, 25, claimed 31 County Championship wickets in his first season with Notts and earned a call-up to the England Test squad in July, although he is yet to make his debut for the national side.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Slater was Notts' second-highest scorer in red-ball games, with 949 runs at an average of over 45, as they narrowly avoided relegation.
He also averaged just under 57 in the One Day Cup, having amassed 498 runs in the 50-over competition that ended at the group stage for Notts last term.
"Ben has developed into a really reliable top-order batter, and his stats speak for themselves," said Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores.
As for Pennington, Moores predicts an "exciting future" for the seamer whose influence at the end of the season was curtailed by injury.
"The fact that Dillon was our leading wicket-taker after his first seven games for the club says everything about the impact he had on the start of our season," Moores added.
Pennington had only moved to Trent Bridge from Worcestershire last summer, while Slater - who has scored more than 8,300 runs across his first-class career to date - has been with Notts since 2018, having initially arrived on loan from East Midlands rivals Derbyshire.
