A century from Dom Sibley laid the platform for Surrey to defeat Leicestershire by 17 runs and record their first One-Day Cup win of the season.

Sibley's 105 was the top score in their 296-6 before they bowled the Foxes out for 279 with four balls to spare.

Elsewhere in Group B, Dom Bess hit a match-winning 53 not out as Yorkshire beat Essex by three wickets at Scarborough.

He came to the wicket at 123-6, chasing 244 and shared stands of 61 with James Wharton (71) and an unbroken 60 with Ben Coad, who finished 26 not out.

In Group A, the match between Middlesex and Durham at Radlett was abandoned.

Group B - Bess to the rescue

Bess was the hero for Yorkshire as the White Rose county snatched victory away from Essex.

He came to the wicket with 121 runs needed and only four wickets remaining before he pulled off the rescue act.

The visitors had made it 243-9 off their 50 overs with a stand of 125 between Robin Das (67) and England Under-19 captain Luc Benkenstein (68) the bedrock of the innings.

Despite a brisk 58 from captain Shan Masood, the loss of wickets had Yorkshire up against in the chase only for Bess to complete the win when he pulled Ben Allison for four to bring up his half-century with 11 balls of the match remaining.

Yorkshire climb to fourth, leaping above Leicestershire after their loss to Surrey at Kibworth.

Opener Sibley hit his second century of this year's One-Day Cup after a career-best List A 149 four days ago against Warwickshire.

Along with 72 from fellow opener Ryan Patel and 61 from Ben Geddes, it set up Surrey's total.

In reply, Sol Budinger struck 70 and Tom Scriven was last out for 55, but there were no half-century partnerships or the Foxes as Surrey secured a first win in the competition at the sixth attempt.

Group A washout

Middlesex and Durham never made it onto the field at Radlett. The drizzle came in around the 11:00 BST start time and then got heavier.

Eventually the umpires gave up hope of any play at 15:00 with each side picking up a point with Middlesex up to fifth and Durham, sixth, with three matches still to play.
