Leg-spinner Mason Crane has joined Glamorgan on a three-year contract from Hampshire.

The 27-year-old has been capped once by England, during the 2018 Ashes tour to Australia - playing in the Sydney Test in January. He has also played in two T20 internationals for England, against South Africa in June 2017.

Crane joined Glamorgan on a season-long loan at the beginning of the current campaign and has impressed in both the County Championship and T20 Blast.

He is currently the leading wicket-taking spinner in the T20 Blast South Group, having taken 17 wickets so far from 11 games with an economy rate of 8.00. His best bowling figures of 4-25 came in the game against Essex at Chelmsford.

In the County Championship, Crane has picked up 24 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls and is the leading wicket-taker among spinners in Division Two.

With the bat, he has scored 351 runs with an average of 43.87, including two half-centuries and a career-best score of 61 against Northamptonshire.

His performances have seen Crane also selected by Welsh Fire as a Wild Card pick for The Hundred 2024.

Crane said: “I have loved every minute since joining Glamorgan at the start of the season.

“It is a great time to be a part of the club, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to make this move permanent. I’m very excited for the next chapter and the years to come.”
